How to Match Wedding Jewelry

There is a lot of focus on the wedding gown when preparing a bride for her wedding day.  Once the gown has been chosen it is time to accessorize.  It can be overwhelming trying to figure out how to match wedding jewelry.  Should it match the dress, the beading, the other jewelry?  These are very good questions that every bride should consider when accessorizing.

The dress’s beading is one thing to consider when picking out wedding jewelry.  Wedding dress beading can vary in color and amount; the more you have on your dress, the less jewelry you will want to accessorize with.  Beading color is something else you will want to consider.  For example, if the dress has silver beading, you would want to pair it with silver based jewelry.

Another consideration is the color of your dress.  You should ask your consultant how to match wedding jewelry to the gowns you try on.  Since pure white dresses pair well with silver and platinum, and gold works better with an ivory gown, it may impact the dress you decide on.
Finally, the neckline of your dress will determine whether or not you should wear a necklace.  Dresses with a V-neck are best if you have your heart set on a choker or small chain with a pendent.  Sweetheart, strapless, halter and reverse halter necklines are better accessorized with earrings and headbands or sparkly hairpins.

Whether you have a consultant or not, when shopping for bridal gowns and accessories, don’t forget to ask how to match wedding jewelry to your gown, headpieces and other jewelry.  Remember that the color of your dress, beading and jewelry can clash if not properly paired.  It is a special day and everyone should look their best, especially the bride.
